Sabrina’s Ithaca College Graduation Photoshoot
Sabrina has been a long time client of mine, we’ve done lots of fun, creative shoots over the years, so when she reached out to set up her IC graduation shoot before leaving Ithaca for her next adventure, I was elated to be able to capture this moment for her, her family and friends.
She absolutely had to represented her Jamaican roots and her graduation cap says “Small, but Strong”! My favorite part of this shoot has to be that a couple of Sabrina’s friends from her time at Ithaca College joined us to preserve some of the memories from the past four years spent together. Those college friendships, made during some of our most formative years, often last a lifetime, even when we end up in all corners of the world.
My best tips for making the most out of your graduation shoot:
- If you can plan it for any time outside of graduation weekend, do it! Campus is buzzing with people that whole weekend and everyone wants to hit the popular spots. To be fair, if you didn’t get a cap and gown picture by the fountains did you even go to Ithaca College? So you might have to wait a bit and squeeze in for shots during the actual weekend.
- Think about your memories of the place and what you want to preserve. All my shoots are designed to give us enough time to get a good variety of the classic photos, so we can always add something personal to you – perhaps your specific school, a family member, or maybe that awesome study spot you really liked? This is the time to make sure your shoot includes everything you wanted it to.
- Bust out the iron or the steamer. Graduation gowns tend to come out of the packaging exceptionally wrinkly, so you want to spend a bit of extra time making sure they look fresh for your photos as well as your big day.
