Miss N’s Boudoir Photo Shoot | Ithaca, NY
I’ve noticed recently I have the tendency to get excited every time we take the boudoir shoot outside and try something different, so I blog about those sessions a lot more. But in reality, the majority of the time we stay inside, where it’s nice and warm and private, we play some music to get the mood just right, we lay out outfits and sexy heels everywhere, and have a blast. So I think it’s time to get back to basics (not that there is anything basic about this gorgeous goddess!) and show what a typical boudoir studio session looks like.
Leading up to a shoot, every person receives a detailed outfit guide, as well as getting ready tips. Almost everyone that comes in front of my camera has never done something like this before, and has to really step outside of their comfort zone for it. So the process is set up with extra guidance for all the little things you’d never think about.
I’ve been specializing in boudoir photography for about 8 years now and have grown my shopping guide meticulously with a wide range of options to cover all sizes, price points and styles. With that said, one of my all time favorite brands for high end, fancy lingerie is Honey Birdette. The straps, the lace, the attention to detail of the pieces will make anyone feel like a million bucks. And when this gorgeous lady brought a whole bag of their glamorous sets, we were both as giddy as kids playing dress up. Except it’s grown up dress up. Very, very grown up.
Here is my biggest tip for your studio boudoir session:
Trust the process! I know it can be intimidating when you browse the galleries online and see all these other folks who looks so comfortable and poised during their sessions. But let me tell you, so so many of them walk in with the exact same worries about not knowing how to pose, or where to look, what to do with their hands or how to look sexy in pictures. And that’s perfectly normal, you’re not a professional model! The process is designed with that in mind, so you have support during the planning stage, as well as during the actual boudoir session so you can relax and enjoy the experience.
