First Blog post! Yay!

IMG_2579Finally! I know, I know, it’s been long over due, but here is the official start of this blog thingie.

I have been interested in photography for years, but even after acquiring a decent camera, I had never really found the time to properly explore it further. After finally kicking myself in the bum and doing it, I quickly realized two things: Photographing faces was where my heart was at, and I needed some better equipment for that! (Turns out, a photographer is never done thinking they need better equipment no matter what they have, but that’s another story).

So one day the right kind of lens finally came in the mail. I sat on my kitchen table and impatiently tore through all the wrapping with a steak knife, ’cause that’s how I roll, and even more impatiently tried to mount the lens on the camera, resulting in doing it the wrong way and panicking for a couple of brief moments thinking it’s broken. Alas, it was not, and after doing it the right way, I looked around for something to photograph. One of my cats, Bacon, being the ever-hungry chubster that he is, was sitting there, staring at me with all the longing in the world in his eyes, thinking – I’m in the kitchen, mommy is in the kitchen, surely this will lead to me getting something tasty, yes? So I snapped a picture. And there it was – love. And the rest has not been history, but a journey.

And here I am, a few years and a few million shots later, starting this blog to share more of my photography and occasionally, random thoughts and cat pictures. Thank you for joining me in my journey and hope you have fun on this wild ride!
